A tragic shooting occurred at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis during the first week of classes, prompting immediate responses from state and federal officials. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the incident on social media, expressing prayers for the affected children and teachers. He noted that the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Minnesota State Patrol were at the scene.<\/p>\n

Authorities stated that the shooter has been \u201ccontained,\u201d and later reports, including from CNN, confirmed the shooter was deceased. Although police reassured the public that there was no ongoing threat, they urged people to avoid the area around West 54th Street between Lyndale and Nicollet avenues. A reunification site was set up at the school to reconnect families with students.<\/p>\n

According to early reports, the gunman targeted Pre-K through 8th-grade students and fired as many as 50 shots. Witnesses described a man dressed in black and carrying a rifle. The shooting reportedly occurred during the school\u2019s morning Mass around 8:15 a.m., shortly after the school year began.
