Fetterman warned that loosely invoking impeachment only weakens its constitutional seriousness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fetterman\u2019s remarks were a direct response to Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s suggestion of renewed impeachment talks, which he and others view as politically unhelpful.<\/strong> He emphasized the importance of maintaining the gravity of impeachment and criticized attempts to use it as a routine political tool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez faces ethics troubles of her own stemming from her appearance at the 2021 Met Gala.<\/strong> The House Ethics Committee found she violated House gift rules by accepting over $3,700 in goods and services, including her \u201cTax the Rich\u201d dress, accessories, and a ticket for her boyfriend, Riley Roberts. Despite eventually paying less than $1,000 for everything, many vendors were only compensated after months of delay and repeated collection efforts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The committee report detailed how her former campaign staff, particularly ex-campaign manager Rebecca Rodriguez, tried to lower costs and delay payments.<\/strong> Some invoices went unpaid for nearly six months, and there were even threats of legal action before vendors were compensated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>While the committee did not find evidence that Ocasio-Cortez intentionally tried to underpay, it criticized her staff\u2019s handling of the situation and concluded she broke House rules.<\/strong> As a resolution, the panel requested she pay an additional $2,733.28 and make a $250 donation to cover her boyfriend\u2019s event dinner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The committee stated the matter would be closed once the payments were made, avoiding formal sanctions but still marking a clear violation of congressional ethics standards.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Efforts by Rep.
