Wilson had only recently joined the station but was already being recognized for her professionalism, warmth, and dedication to journalism.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"438\" data-end=\"727\">WAPT anchors Troy Johnson and Megan West announced her passing on air. \u201cCeleste had only been with us for a short time, but we were already touched by her professionalism, her warmth and her dedication to the work of journalism,\u201d West said. The loss stunned the newsroom and viewers alike.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"729\" data-end=\"1043\">Peter Keith, WAPT\u2019s president and general manager, praised Wilson\u2019s impact in a short time. \u201cShe brought warmth and high standards, elevating not just stories but the people around her,\u201d he said. \u201cShe believed journalism is service \u2014 showing up, asking fair questions, and giving voice to those too often unheard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1353\">Wilson appeared in good health during her final news segment on August 25, where she interviewed Rep. Bennie Thompson. Just days earlier, she was seen smiling at the Girl Scouts of Mississippi Women of Distinction Induction breakfast, where she had been conducting interviews and engaging with the community.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1355\" data-end=\"1656\">A Louisiana native, Wilson began her career at a CBS affiliate in Monroe before earning a master\u2019s degree at Arizona State University. She also worked for outlets including PBS.
