During a Sunday interview with Fox News host Jason Chaffetz, Border Czar Tom Homan made headlines by revealing that individuals funding violent anti-ICE protests could face prosecution. Homan claimed that many protesters are paid and that federal authorities are working to identify those financing these demonstrations\u2014especially if they\u2019re providing weapons or materials that could harm agents. \u201cThey\u2019ll be held accountable to the highest standards of the law,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Homan defended ICE, stressing that agents are simply enforcing immigration laws passed by Congress. He urged protesters to direct their anger at lawmakers, not law enforcement. \u201cWe\u2019re not making this stuff up,\u201d he said. He also pushed back against politicians comparing ICE to Nazis, saying, \u201cIf they\u2019re racist for enforcing the law, what\u2019s that make them? They wrote the law.\u201d<\/p>\n
He has consistently criticized Democratic politicians for what he describes as dangerous rhetoric. In July, Homan warned that inflammatory statements could lead to violence, referencing the shooting of a Texas police officer outside an ICE facility. The Department of Homeland Security reported damage to federal property and vehicles during related protests.<\/p>\n
Homan said attacks on ICE agents have surged nearly 700% over the past year. He called for more responsibility from lawmakers, especially in blue states, and emphasized that ICE officers are regular people with families doing their jobs. \u201cThey don\u2019t hang their heart on a hook when they go to work,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
His comments come days after President Trump signed a $3.3 trillion spending bill that includes funding for 10,000 new ICE agents and continued construction of the southern border wall.<\/p>\n
