House Republicans Demand Probe Into Left-Wing Groups After Charlie Kirk Assassination<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 23 House Republicans are calling for a congressional investigation into what they describe as \u201cradical left\u201d networks, The Miami Herald<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

On September 11, a day after Kirk was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson urging the formation of a select committee to investigate organized left-wing violence. The letter was co-signed by 22 other GOP lawmakers, according to Newsmax<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must take every step to follow the money and uncover the force behind the NGOs, donors, media, public officials, and all entities driving this coordinated attack,\u201d Roy wrote. He cited the 2024 attempt on Donald Trump\u2019s life and the 2017 congressional baseball shooting as evidence of a larger trend targeting conservatives.<\/p>\n

The proposed committee would have subpoena power and focus on groups like Antifa and progressive donors such as George Soros. Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) stated, \u201cWe\u2019ve seen organized and well-funded efforts from the radical left to intimidate, silence, and justify violence. The media often downplays it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck at UVU. Police later arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Washington County, Utah. The killing drew bipartisan condemnation.
