Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the violence, comparing scenes in Los Angeles to a \u201cThird World country.\u201d Speaking on Fox News, Bondi pledged to prosecute anyone who assaults law enforcement, noting nine individuals are already facing federal charges. \u201cIf California won\u2019t protect their law enforcement, we will,\u201d she declared. Bondi emphasized that under federal statutes, assaulting state officers carries up to five years in prison\u2014and the Department of Justice intends to pursue those penalties.
