There were 242 passengers and crew members aboard, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, and a few others from Canada and Portugal. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and despite recovery efforts, 265 bodies have been found, including those of people on the ground. The lone survivor is 40-year-old British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, with more details expected soon.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"745\" data-end=\"1278\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">In the aftermath of the incident, Air India\u2019s Chairman, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, expressed his condolences, describing the event as a \u201ctragic accident.\u201d According to aviation authorities, the aircraft sent out a mayday call, with the captain reporting: &#8220;Mayday\u2026 no thrust, losing power, unable to lift.&#8221; It\u2019s believed the pilots attempted to regain control before the crash.
