A new study from the Pew Research Center sheds light on the diverse coalition behind President Donald Trump\u2019s decisive 2024 election victory. While his win was already historic in scale, Pew\u2019s analysis reveals key demographic shifts that helped fuel his success\u2014especially among voters traditionally aligned with Democrats.<\/p>\n
According to Pew, Trump\u2019s 2024 supporters were \u201cfar more racially and ethnically diverse\u201d than in 2016 or 2020. Notably, Hispanic voters were nearly evenly split between Trump and Kamala Harris. In 2020, Biden won the Hispanic vote by 25 points. In 2024, Harris\u2019s margin shrank to just three\u201451 to 48.<\/p>\n
Trump also made significant gains among Black voters, earning 15 percent of their vote compared to 8 percent in 2020. His support among Asian American voters jumped from 30 percent in 2020 to 40 percent in 2024, while Harris dropped to 57 percent. Among naturalized citizens\u2014who now make up about 9 percent of voters\u2014Trump surged from 38 percent in 2020 to 47 percent, narrowing the Democrat advantage to just four points.<\/p>\n
Other key metrics show Trump expanding his base: he doubled his margin with non-college-educated voters, won rural voters by 40 points, and dominated among those who attend religious services, winning that group 64 to 34. While men were evenly split in 2020, Trump won them 55 to 43 in 2024, especially gaining with younger men under 50.<\/p>\n
Pew also challenged the long-standing belief that higher turnout automatically benefits Democrats. Their findings suggest that even if every eligible American had voted in 2024, the popular vote margin would not have shifted significantly\u2014debunking the idea that low-propensity voters lean heavily left.<\/p>\n
PJ Media\u2019s Sarah Anderson credited Trump\u2019s unique appeal, saying, \u201cHe\u2019s not your average politician\u2026 he\u2019s a unicorn.\u201d But she warned Republicans not to waste the momentum. \u201cWe must prove to these new voters that we see them as individuals capable of greatness\u2014not as voting blocs to control.\u201d<\/p>\n
