During this phenomenon, the <strong data-start=\"252\" data-end=\"290\">moon will completely block the sun<\/strong>, casting large portions of Earth into temporary darkness during the day.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"365\" data-end=\"639\">The <strong data-start=\"369\" data-end=\"391\">most dramatic part<\/strong> of this eclipse is called <strong data-start=\"418\" data-end=\"433\">\u201ctotality,\u201d<\/strong> when the moon entirely covers the sun. In this event, totality will last an impressive <strong data-start=\"521\" data-end=\"551\">six minutes and 23 seconds<\/strong>, making it the <strong data-start=\"567\" data-end=\"592\">longest solar eclipse<\/strong> since the one in <strong data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"618\">1991<\/strong>, according to Space.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"963\">This particular eclipse is being called the <strong data-start=\"685\" data-end=\"718\">\u201cGreat North African Eclipse\u201d<\/strong> because it will be best visible from North Africa. The optimal viewing location will be <strong data-start=\"807\" data-end=\"823\">Luxor, Egypt<\/strong>, where the longest totality duration can be experienced. Luxor promises one of the most breathtaking views of this rare astronomical event.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"965\" data-end=\"1297\">Even if you&#8217;re not in Egypt, <strong data-start=\"994\" data-end=\"1011\">other regions<\/strong> will also offer great views. Much of <strong data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1065\">North Africa<\/strong> and parts of <strong data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1098\">Southern Europe<\/strong>\u2014including <strong data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1122\">Gibraltar<\/strong>\u2014will be within the path of totality. While the eclipse duration will be shorter in Gibraltar, it remains a unique place to witness the first landfall of the eclipse\u2019s shadow.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1531\">In <strong data-start=\"1302\" data-end=\"1312\">Europe<\/strong>, some of the best places to experience this total eclipse are <strong data-start=\"1375\" data-end=\"1393\">Southern Spain<\/strong>, particularly <strong data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1418\">Tarifa<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1423\" data-end=\"1432\">Cadiz<\/strong>, where viewers can enjoy up to <strong data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1492\">4 minutes and 39 seconds<\/strong> of total darkness, weather permitting.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1533\" data-end=\"1903\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">What makes this eclipse especially rare is a <strong data-start=\"1578\" data-end=\"1598\">unique alignment<\/strong> between the Earth, Moon, and Sun that allows for an extended period of totality. After this 2027 event, the <strong data-start=\"1707\" data-end=\"1746\">next comparable total solar eclipse<\/strong> isn\u2019t expected until <strong data-start=\"1768\" data-end=\"1776\">2114<\/strong>.
