Carville Tells Kamala Harris That Dems Want Nothing To Do With Her In 2028

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville made headlines Thursday with sharp remarks about former Vice President Kamala Harris and her political future. Speaking on his Politics War Room podcast, Carville stated that Democrats are ready to move past figures tied to the 2024 election, including Harris. He made it clear she will not be the party’s nominee in 2028.

Harris recently ruled out a run for California governor, fueling speculation that she may be preserving her chances for a presidential run. Carville, however, dismissed the idea, saying Democrats want a clean break from anyone associated with the Biden-Harris era. “Anybody that had anything to do with 2024, the party wants to move on from that,” he said.

Carville also mentioned Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, saying he too should avoid a 2028 campaign. His co-host, Al Hunt, added a pointed comment aimed at President Biden: “Joe Biden, would you please go take the restful retirement you so richly deserve?” The remarks underscore a broader desire within the party for new leadership and generational change.

While speculation continues around Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and California Governor Gavin Newsom, Maryland Governor Wes Moore has taken himself out of the 2028 conversation. Despite frequent national appearances and praise from Democratic circles, Moore told the Associated Press he has no plans to run for president or vice president.

Moore emphasized that his focus remains on governing Maryland, dismissing concerns about his political travel. He said visits to states like South Carolina are part of his economic development agenda, not presidential campaigning.

Meanwhile, Buttigieg continues to raise his national profile through digital and traditional media. In an interview with the Washington Examiner, he stated he’s not making political decisions yet but remains active in shaping the Democratic message and connecting with voters outside traditional party lines.
