Melania Trump, now First Lady again under President Donald Trump’s renewed term, penned a “peace letter” addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The letter, handed to Putin by President Trump during their Alaska summit, calls for a global focus on protecting children and future generations.
Melania’s message, which was read aloud by Putin in front of both delegations, emphasized:
- The universal innocence of children, regardless of geography or politics
- A call for leaders to foster dignity, opportunity, and safety for all
- A plea for Putin to restore peace and “harmonious laughter” among children
- An appeal for humanity over division, ending with: “It is time.”
The letter came ahead of a high-stakes summit—the first U.S.–Russia face-to-face meeting since 2021. While Trump and Putin found common ground on many issues, no official peace deal was announced. Trump noted “progress,” but added: “We’re not there yet.”
The meeting concluded with a symbolic moment: Putin invited Trump to Moscow for the next round of peace talks, prompting a diplomatic smile and a hint of controversy.
Meanwhile, Trump plans to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday to continue peace negotiations, alongside European leaders.
