U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, announced the arrest of Nathalie Rose Jones, a 50-year-old woman from Lafayette, Indiana, for making death threats against President Donald Trump. Pirro, a former Fox News host and now a senior official at the Department of Justice, released a video statement detailing the charges and affirming the seriousness of threatening the life of a sitting president.
According to Pirro, Jones traveled from New York to Washington, D.C., where she escalated her threats. She used social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to express her intent to harm the president. In her posts, she referred to Trump as a terrorist and called for his removal, making repeated references to violent actions against him.
The DOJ charged Jones with two federal crimes: threatening to take the life of the president and transmitting threats through interstate communications. Pirro emphasized that her office would prosecute the case to the fullest extent of the law, reiterating the DOJ’s commitment to protecting national leaders.
Court documents reveal that from August 2 to 15, Jones posted multiple threats online. One particularly graphic Facebook message referenced disemboweling Trump with the help of Liz Cheney. Another post urged the Secretary of Defense to organize Trump’s arrest as a “terrorist,” citing a specific time and date.
The Secret Service interviewed Jones on August 15, during which she admitted to wanting to kill Trump using a bladed weapon, citing her anger over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. She expressed a desire to avenge those she believed died due to his administration’s vaccine policies.
On August 16, after participating in a protest near the White House, Jones was arrested. During a second interview, she admitted to making the threats and confirmed ownership of the social media accounts used to post them.
