In newly released transcripts from the Department of Justice, Ghislaine Maxwell discussed former President Bill Clinton’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein during a two-day interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. Notably, Maxwell stated she does not believe Clinton ever received a massage aboard Epstein’s private plane, contradicting speculation fueled by past reports and photographs.
When asked about massages, Maxwell explained that during the times Clinton and Epstein were together, they primarily traveled by plane, but she did not witness any inappropriate behavior. “I don’t believe there was ever a massage on the plane,” she said, emphasizing she would have been present if it had happened.
Despite her denial, past photographs have shown Clinton receiving a massage from Epstein accuser Chauntae Davies during a 2002 trip to Africa. Additionally, Virginia Giuffre has claimed Clinton visited Epstein’s private island, though she did not accuse him of any wrongdoing. Clinton has consistently denied knowing about Epstein’s crimes or visiting the island.
Maxwell also revealed her involvement with the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), describing herself as a “very central” figure in its early days. She said Epstein supported her work with CGI, though she suspected he may have tried to use it to gain influence. According to Maxwell, she often clashed with Epstein over her role, making clear she operated independently.
She recounted traveling to the Davos World Economic Forum with Clinton and clarified that she considered Clinton her friend, not Epstein’s. Maxwell said she met Hillary Clinton once and attended Chelsea Clinton’s wedding, but Epstein was not present.
Her attorney, David Oscar Markus, defended Maxwell’s testimony, insisting she cooperated fully and that the new DOJ materials highlight her credibility. He reiterated Maxwell’s innocence and argued she should never have been tried or convicted in connection with Epstein’s crimes.
