Put this in your house and you will never see flies, mosquitoes or cockroaches again

Insects like flies and roaches can quickly turn a calm kitchen into a source of frustration. Fortunately, a simple repellent made from everyday items like toothpaste, baking soda, and vinegar can help keep these pests away. This homemade mix is effective, low-cost, and easy to prepare, using ingredients most people already have in their bathroom or pantry.

The secret lies in the strong, refreshing scent of mint toothpaste and peppermint oil, which many insects dislike. When combined with the fizzy reaction of baking soda and vinegar, the mixture produces a scent and chemical reaction that makes the area less inviting for pests. This natural solution works especially well in areas where bugs tend to enter or hide.

To make the repellent, mix one tablespoon each of mint toothpaste, baking soda, and white vinegar. Add half a cup (120 ml) of lukewarm water and, optionally, 5–10 drops of peppermint essential oil for a stronger scent. Stir the ingredients thoroughly and pour the solution into shallow containers such as jar lids or saucers.

Place the containers near sinks, trash bins, doorways, and other bug-prone spots. You can also apply a small amount behind appliances or along baseboards using a cotton swab. Within an hour, many users notice fewer insects and a fresh, minty scent in the air.

For ongoing effectiveness, refresh the mix every two to three days, as the scent fades. In warm months, place containers near open doors or windows. Maintaining cleanliness—like wiping surfaces and sealing food—is still the most effective way to prevent pests long-term.

While the mixture is generally safe for household use, keep it away from children and pets. Skip the essential oil if animals are present, and avoid applying to delicate surfaces without testing first. For severe infestations, combine with deeper cleaning or professional help.
