Jimmy Kimmel trolls Trump with hilarious photo after his escalator stopped working

Donald Trump recently faced an awkward moment at the United Nations headquarters when an escalator he and First Lady Melania Trump stepped onto suddenly stopped working. The incident, though minor, quickly became a topic of public attention and comedic material for late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who has long had a contentious relationship with the former president.

The ongoing tension between Kimmel and Trump began after ABC briefly suspended Kimmel for remarks he made about political commentator Charlie Kirk and Trump himself. Trump publicly celebrated the suspension, but Kimmel soon returned to air, using his platform to address the controversy and fire back at the former president with satirical commentary.

In his first monologue after the break, Kimmel mocked Trump’s attempt to “cancel” him, stating that it only brought more viewers to the show. He expressed disappointment in a national leader who, according to Kimmel, rejoices in Americans losing their jobs over jokes. He went on to label Trump a “bully” for his continued public criticisms.

The escalator mishap at the UN gave Kimmel another opportunity to poke fun at Trump. According to reports, Melania led the way as the pair stepped onto the escalator, which abruptly stopped, forcing them and their team to use the stairs instead. Trump later claimed the incident could have been dangerous had they not held onto the handrail.

Trump suggested that the escalator stoppage might have been intentional and referenced a media report suggesting UN workers had joked about such a prank. He called for those allegedly responsible to be held accountable, framing it as sabotage.

Meanwhile, Kimmel kept the humor going by posting a lighthearted photo of his sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez on a working escalator, joking about heading to Brooklyn, where his show would temporarily be filmed the following week.
