Goldie Hawn reveals Diane Keaton’s emotional final promise before she died

Legendary actress Goldie Hawn is grieving the loss of her lifelong friend and fellow Hollywood icon, Diane Keaton. The two shared decades of friendship, beginning as colleagues and evolving into something deeply personal. Hawn’s emotional tribute has touched many as she revealed the bond they shared, including a heartfelt promise they made to one another for their later years.

Diane Keaton, best known for her Oscar-winning role in Annie Hall, left behind not only a legacy of brilliant film performances but also a vast community of friends, fans, and admirers. The news of her passing has drawn tributes from stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael Douglas, Steve Martin, and Andy Garcia.

Goldie Hawn shared her tribute on social media, describing the pain of losing someone so close. The two had co-starred in the beloved 1996 film The First Wives Club alongside Bette Midler, a project that bonded them even more closely. Hawn recalled their daily rituals on set — sharing coffee, laughter, and friendship that lasted well beyond their time on screen.

In her post, Hawn described Keaton as someone who brought light into the world, calling her humble, irreplaceable, and uniquely talented. “You never liked praise… but now you can’t tell me to shut up, honey,” she wrote with bittersweet humor. She acknowledged the heartbreak of saying goodbye and the void left behind.

One of the most poignant revelations in Hawn’s message was a promise they had made to each other: to grow old together, and maybe even live together with their close friends. While that dream never materialized, Hawn shared that they had grown older side by side — a bond unbroken by time.

Goldie ended her tribute with love and sorrow, sending thoughts to Keaton’s children, Dex and Duke. “Shine your fairy dust up there, girlfriend,” she wrote. “I’m going to miss the hell out of you.”
