Trump’s Security Tightened After Suspected Sniper Stand Found Near Air Force One
Former President Donald Trump faced heightened security measures on Sunday after the Secret Service discovered a suspected sniper perch near Palm Beach International Airport. Trump boarded Air Force One via a smaller staircase, a White House official told Fox News, citing the increased precautions.
The concern arose on Friday when Secret Service agents discovered what appeared to be a hunting stand positioned with a clear line of sight to the Air Force One landing zone. While no arrests have been made, the FBI has since taken over the investigation and is actively gathering evidence.
“Prior to the President’s return, USSS discovered an elevated hunting stand within sight of the Air Force One landing zone,” said FBI Director Kash Patel. He added that the agency had deployed resources to collect evidence and launched a digital forensics operation using cellphone data analytics to assist the investigation.
USSS Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi confirmed that the discovery occurred during routine security preparations and stressed that no individuals were found at the site. “This incident underscores the importance of our layered security measures,” he said, noting that Trump’s movements were not impacted by the find.
This unsettling development follows the recent assassination attempt on Trump by 20-year-old Thomas Crooks during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Crooks, who was fatally shot by law enforcement, had posted disturbing videos and conducted online searches related to political violence and mass shootings prior to the attack. He had not been flagged by authorities.
