Police Officer Critically Injured in Vice President Vance Motorcade Crash
A police officer was critically injured Friday night when two law enforcement vehicles collided while escorting Vice President J.D. Vance’s motorcade near Maryville, Tennessee, about 17 miles south of Knoxville. The crash involved a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper and a Maryville Police Department motorcycle officer, both part of the security detail for a Vance fundraiser at Blackberry Farm.
The injured officer was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Both officers received medical evaluation, though the trooper’s condition has not been released. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. The Secret Service confirmed the motorcade continued without disruption.
The incident occurred amid Vance’s recent criticism of Democrats over the federal government shutdown, which he called politically motivated and harmful to Americans.
.@JDVance torches Democrats over the shutdown chaos, saying Americans were hurt “for nothing”:
SEAN: The government is open. Longest shutdown in history. Can you tell me what the point of all that was?
VANCE: I wish that I knew, Sean, because here’s what the Democrats actually… pic.twitter.com/tDitHtifSm— Sean Hannity 🇺🇸 (@seanhannity) November 14, 2025
