Senate Confirms Dan Caine To Lead Joint Chiefs In Late-Night Vote

The Republican-controlled U.S. Senate confirmed retired Lt. Gen. Dan Caine as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with a 60-25 vote. Democrats, led by Sen.

Elizabeth Warren, delayed his nomination in protest over the removal of Gen. C.Q. Brown Jr. by President Trump.

Despite the delay, Caine gained bipartisan support after a calm confirmation hearing, where he faced no major challenges. Sen. Roger Wicker emphasized the need for swift approval due to rising global military threats, especially from China.

Caine pledged to serve apolitically and uphold U.S. laws. Trump’s nomination of Caine was seen as part of his broader plan to reshape the Pentagon. The Senate vote was a significant win for Trump’s agenda to restructure U.S. military leadership.
