First Lady Melania Trump made history Monday by co-signing a bill with President Donald Trump at a White House ceremony — an unusual move for a first lady. The legislation, the Take It Down Act, strengthens protections against revenge porn, including AI-generated deepfake content, and marks her first major legislative success.
Melania, who actively lobbied for the bill, praised it as a bipartisan victory to protect children and families from online exploitation. In rare public remarks, she warned about the dangers of AI, calling it “digital candy” that can harm cognitive development and emotional well-being.
President Trump praised her efforts, joking that even Vladimir Putin respects her more. The bill requires websites to remove non-consensual sexual images within 48 hours of a complaint.
