New York Attorney General Letitia James, known for pursuing legal action against Donald Trump, is now under criminal investigation by the DOJ, led by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.
A grand jury is probing allegations that James committed mortgage fraud by misrepresenting properties to obtain better loan terms.
The case stems from a referral by former Trump administration official William Pulte, who accuses James of falsely claiming a Virginia home as her primary residence and misrepresenting a Brooklyn property’s unit count. James denies the claims, calling them politically motivated retaliation by Trump allies.
Her attorney argues the investigation is retribution and highlights the irony, noting James once accused Trump of similar conduct. James’ office says she remains focused on serving New Yorkers and won’t be intimidated.
