Trump Blasts Federalist Society, Leonard Leo Over Tariff Ruling
Donald Trump slammed the Federalist Society and its former leader Leonard Leo after a Trump-appointed judge helped strike down parts of his tariff policy. Calling Leo a “sleazebag,” Trump said he regretted relying on the group for judicial picks, accusing them of poor advice and hidden agendas.
The criticism followed a court ruling that Trump exceeded his authority by using emergency powers to impose tariffs. One of the judges involved, Timothy Reif, was appointed by Trump himself. Despite backlash, Leonard Leo praised Trump’s judicial legacy but didn’t address the remarks directly.
