Sad Obama family news

The Obama family is mourning the loss of Marian Robinson, mother of former First Lady Michelle Obama, who passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Robinson, who famously lived in the White House during Barack Obama’s presidency, played a significant role in maintaining a sense of normalcy for granddaughters Sasha and Malia. In a heartfelt joint statement, the Obamas and Robinsons described her as a beloved sister, aunt, and friend whose steady presence touched many lives. Michelle Obama honored her mother as her “rock,” while Barack Obama called her “an extraordinary gift.” President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden also expressed their condolences, remembering Robinson for her quiet warmth and deep devotion to her family.

Born Marian Lois Shields in 1937 on Chicago’s South Side, she married Fraser Robinson and had two children, Michelle and Craig. Known for her dedication to her children’s education and values, she remained a strong influence throughout her life. Fraser Robinson passed away in 1991, and Marian later stepped into the public eye while helping raise her granddaughters during the Obama White House years. On a recent episode of the podcast IMO, co-hosted by Michelle and Craig, the former First Lady reflected on her new role following her mother’s death. “When you lose your parents, you’re next up,” Michelle said, recalling Barack’s words. “I’m not really ready to be next up,” she joked, expressing gratitude for her husband and brother.
