Hillary Clinton faced strong backlash on social media after mocking President Donald Trump’s military parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary. In a post on X, Clinton shared side-by-side images of the parade and nationwide “No Kings Day” protests, calling Trump’s event a “low-energy Dear Leader parade” and criticizing its \$45 million cost. However, she disabled replies to her post, which further fueled criticism. Many accused Clinton of showing “utter contempt” for the military, with conservative voices citing past controversies like Benghazi as evidence of her disregard for service members. Meanwhile, Trump’s supporters defended the parade, which coincided with his 79th birthday and Flag Day, stating that over 250,000 people attended. Protests in opposition to the event turned violent in several cities, including Portland and Los Angeles.
Critics also took aim at Clinton’s personal choices during the weekend. While she publicly condemned the military display, she was seen attending the high-profile Hamptons wedding of her longtime aide, Huma Abedin, to Alex Soros—son of billionaire donor George Soros. The lavish affair included top Democratic figures such as Bill Clinton, Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and celebrities like Anna Wintour and Nicky Hilton Rothschild. Detractors highlighted the contrast between Clinton criticizing perceived political elitism while participating in what some dubbed the “Democratic royal wedding.” Her presence at the luxurious celebration, combined with her critical post about the parade, drew accusations of hypocrisy and further polarized public opinion.
