The relationship between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk has reached a dramatic breaking point, as the two high-profile figures exchange public criticisms and political threats. Once close allies—particularly when Musk led the Department of Government Efficiency—their alliance has now turned hostile. Musk’s announcement of forming the “America Party” marks a direct challenge to both the Republican and Democratic parties, further escalating tensions.

The fallout intensified when Musk, while stepping back from politics, made a brief and controversial claim that Donald Trump was named in a sealed portion of the Epstein files. Though Musk later apologized, the damage was done. Their feud reignited after Trump introduced the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a legislative move Musk staunchly opposed, arguing it would result in the loss of millions of American jobs.

In response, Musk not only vowed to campaign against the bill but also declared his intent to create a third party. Trump dismissed Musk’s political aspirations as “ridiculous,” pointing out that third parties have historically failed in the U.S. He reiterated his stance on Truth Social, branding Musk a “train wreck” and blaming their falling-out on disagreements over electric vehicle subsidies, which directly impact Musk’s Tesla business.
