Attorney General Pam Bondi is reportedly committed to staying in her role despite internal conflict with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. The disagreement, first reported by Florida’s Voice citing Fox News, allegedly escalated during a recent meeting at the White House, which included Bondi, Bongino, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
Tensions rose as Bongino and Patel were questioned about a NewsNation story claiming the FBI wanted to release more Epstein documents but was blocked by the Justice Department. Bongino denied leaking any information but notably refused to sign a statement supporting the DOJ’s position. Although Bongino hasn’t formally resigned, his absence from work on Friday fueled speculation that he may step down.
The controversy is compounded by growing dissatisfaction within pro-Trump circles. Many of Trump’s supporters had anticipated the release of Epstein-related files would unveil explosive new evidence or challenge the official narrative of Epstein’s 2019 jailhouse suicide. However, a recent DOJ memo stated there was no evidence of murder, no client list, and no blackmail material, disappointing many and sparking backlash.
Conservative activist Laura Loomer claimed Bongino and Patel were “livid” over Bondi’s handling of the situation, and that Bongino may not return. Despite this, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and White House officials strongly denied any internal rift, insisting the team remains united.
Earlier this year, Bondi tried to energize the issue by distributing Epstein-related binders, but critics dismissed it as a lackluster effort with mostly outdated information.
