‘American Idol’ exec and husband found dead in suspected double homicide

Robin Kaye, a respected music supervisor known for her work on American Idol and Lip Sync Battle, was tragically found dead alongside her husband, Thomas Deluca, in their Encino home. The Los Angeles Police Department is treating the incident as a double homicide. The couple was discovered after family members requested a welfare check due to not hearing from them for several days.

When officers arrived at the residence, they observed blood near the entrance and, after unsuccessful attempts to contact anyone inside, broke a window to enter. Inside, both Kaye and Deluca were found with fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet disclosed any motive or identified a suspect, but the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Notably, police had responded to the same home just days earlier. Last Thursday, a neighbor reported someone jumping the fence, possibly armed, in an apparent break-in attempt. Officers, along with aerial support, searched the area but found no signs of forced entry. Whether this earlier event is connected to the murders remains unclear, though investigators are reviewing surveillance footage for potential leads.

So far, there are no indications the home was ransacked, leading to speculation that robbery may not have been the motive. The lack of clear answers has deepened the sense of shock and unease in the community and entertainment industry alike.

Robin Kaye’s death has left a profound impact on her colleagues and fans. Widely admired for her creative vision and award-winning work, she leaves behind a legacy that helped shape the sound of modern television.
