Seth Jason, a longtime Voice of America employee and volunteer reserve officer with the Anne Arundel County Police Department, was arrested for making multiple death threats against far-right Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and her staff. Between October 2023 and January 2024, Jason allegedly called from VOA studios, threatening to kill Greene “between the eyes” with an AK-47 and warning that he and others were “locked and loaded.”
The Justice Department charged Jason with four criminal offenses, including threatening a federal official and making interstate threats of harm. If convicted, he faces up to 27 years in prison. Authorities emphasized the seriousness of threatening public officials, with interim U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro stating there would be “no mercy and no excuses.”
Jason had served at VOA since 2001 and as a volunteer reserve officer since 2016 but has since been disassociated from the police department. VOA itself faced controversy earlier in 2025 when President Trump ordered its shutdown, calling it “The Voice of Radical America.”
Separately, Marjorie Taylor Greene addressed speculation about a possible Senate run against incumbent Democrat Jon Ossoff in Georgia. In a lengthy post on X, Greene denied plans to run, criticizing the Senate as dysfunctional and emphasizing her commitment to Georgia’s people, especially those who support former President Trump.
Greene also dismissed the influence of Georgia’s political elites, highlighting her 2020 congressional victory as a triumph over well-funded establishment candidates, and reaffirmed her dedication to fighting for her constituents.
