Former co-host of “The View,” Rosie O’Donnell, claims ABC plans to cancel the show to appease former President Donald Trump. In a TikTok video responding to a Daily Beast report, O’Donnell said ABC executives, including Disney CEO Bob Iger, are reviewing the show’s “liberal bias” and urging hosts to tone it down. She argued this review is a pretext for cancellation.
O’Donnell called Trump the “orange messiah” and accused ABC of seeking “balance” that really means silencing dissent. She warned that any show opposing “Trumpism” risks cancellation. Quoting a Holocaust poem, she said, “First they came for the journalists… Now it’s Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg,” and described the political climate as “a dictatorship with good lighting.” She fled to Ireland after Trump’s election and urged women to speak out, calling them “the most dangerous sound in the world.”
ABC and “The View” declined to comment. Trump spokesperson Taylor Rogers dismissed O’Donnell as “an irrelevant loser” and suggested the show’s poor ratings made cancellation likely.
The controversy follows CBS canceling “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” amid tensions involving Trump, sparking speculation about networks reducing left-leaning content.
O’Donnell has a long history of criticizing Trump, including accusing him of racism and misogyny. Trump retaliated on social media, calling her “a Threat to Humanity” and considering revoking her citizenship after she moved to Ireland. The feud dates back to 2006, with ongoing public insults. O’Donnell confirmed in March she left the U.S. for safety and equal rights concerns, stating she will return only when America is safe for all citizens.
