President Donald Trump vowed Wednesday to reclaim and complete the southern border wall using materials the Biden administration previously sold off “for pennies on the dollar.” Speaking at the Kennedy Center following his announcement of the Kennedy Center Honors recipients, Trump responded to a question from The Daily Wire regarding reports that portions of the wall would be returned to the federal government.
“We are taking that wall back,” Trump declared, criticizing President Joe Biden’s decision to dismantle and auction off unused border wall components. He referenced Daily Wire footage showing wall sections being removed from an area near Tucson, Arizona—a major crossing point for illegal immigration under Biden’s watch.
“They sold the wall,” Trump said. “This is expensive stuff—hardened steel, concrete, rebar. Very difficult to cut. They just sold it off for $0.03 or $0.04 on the dollar.”
He credited Attorney General Pam Bondi with pushing legal action against the company that acquired the materials, claiming a settlement has been reached that will allow the wall sections to be recovered. “We’re paying a small amount of money to get it back, to get rid of the litigation,” Trump said. “We’ll put it up.”
Trump also used the moment to criticize the Biden administration’s border policies, accusing them of enabling open borders and endangering national security. He cited a claim that over 11,000 murderers had entered the U.S., saying, “the wall is the least of it.” “We are going to take the wall back,” Trump concluded. “We’ll put it up.”
