A former aide to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accidentally backed her car into his after being abruptly fired, officials confirmed. Hannah Anderson, who had served as deputy chief of staff for policy, was dismissed in June alongside then–Chief of Staff Heather Flick Melanson during a broader leadership shakeup aimed at aligning the department with President Trump’s health agenda.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Anderson was distraught following her dismissal and accidentally crashed into Kennedy’s vehicle. The incident underscores the ongoing turmoil within Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative, which has faced a string of high-profile resignations and internal disputes as leadership shifts to reflect the administration’s priorities.
Among the departures was Dr. Vinay Prasad, the FDA’s top vaccine official and head of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. He was forced out in July following clashes with biotech firm Sarepta Therapeutics. After pressure from journalist Laura Loomer and internal controversy, he was later reinstated after Kennedy and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary persuaded White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles to approve his return.
CDC Director Susan Monarez also resigned after less than a month in the role. Her departure followed disagreements with Kennedy over vaccine policy. The White House confirmed that Monarez “was not aligned with the president’s agenda,” amid reports the administration may consider pulling mRNA COVID-19 vaccines within months.
Kennedy has also drawn pushback for targeting glyphosate, a pesticide linked to cancer. The White House reportedly told him to stop raising the issue over concerns it could disrupt the food supply.
