Photos Reveal Biden’s Post-Cancer Surgery Scar as Health Scrutiny Grows
Newly released photos show a large scar on former President Joe Biden’s head, visible for the first time since undergoing a recent skin cancer procedure. The 82-year-old was photographed on Saturday leaving St. Joseph’s Church in Delaware, no longer wearing the bandage that had previously covered the wound.
According to the New York Post, the scar appears to be healing. Biden has a history of skin cancer treatments, including a basal cell carcinoma removed from his chest in 2023 while still in office. In May 2025, he disclosed that he had been diagnosed with aggressive, hormone-sensitive prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. Medical experts say that while treatable, the cancer is unlikely to be fully cured.
Concerns about Biden’s health have escalated, especially after a shaky debate performance against Donald Trump in June 2024. Although Dr. Kevin O’Connor declared him “fit to serve” in a February 2024 report, a Republican-led House Oversight Committee is now investigating whether signs of cognitive decline were deliberately concealed during his final year in office.
Adding to the scrutiny are Biden’s final clemency actions in January 2025. Internal emails show White House aides were unsure whether Biden had personally reviewed the documents authorizing more than 2,500 pardons and commutations. The use of an autopen to sign these warrants has raised further questions about his involvement.
Biden later admitted he did not review every document, citing the volume of cases. His acknowledgment has fueled ongoing concerns about transparency and decision-making in the closing chapter of his presidency.
