Trump: Left-Wing Groups “Under Investigation” After Charlie Kirk Assassination
Former President Donald Trump claimed over the weekend that left-wing individuals and organizations are “already under major investigation” following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Speaking to reporters before departing for his Bedminster golf resort in New Jersey, Trump said, “They’re already under investigation. A lot of the people that you would traditionally say, ‘they’re on the left.’”
A source familiar with the FBI’s investigation told Fox News Digital that the bureau is actively examining leftist groups in Utah for possible ties to the alleged shooter. Investigators are reportedly exploring whether these groups had prior knowledge of the attack or played any role in assisting the suspect’s actions.
House Republicans are pushing for a broader inquiry. On September 11, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), along with 22 other GOP lawmakers, sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson calling for the formation of a select committee to investigate what they describe as “radical left” networks. Roy connected Kirk’s killing to a pattern of political violence, citing the 2017 congressional baseball shooting and the 2024 assassination attempt on Trump.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller voiced similar concerns during a Fox News appearance. He blamed Democrats, progressive media, and universities for promoting “eliminationist rhetoric” that has, in his view, contributed to the radicalization of violent actors targeting conservatives.
Miller added that under a second Trump administration, the Department of Justice would aggressively pursue those involved in inciting political violence, promising to “take away your money, your power, and your freedom” if laws have been broken.
