Two Arrested in Utah Bomb Plot Near Site of Charlie Kirk Assassination
Two men have been arrested in Magna, Utah, after allegedly placing an incendiary device under a FOX 13 News vehicle, prompting a neighborhood evacuation. The arrests of Adeeb Nasir, 58, and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, 31, came just days after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University, located about 30 miles away.
Both men face multiple charges, including threat of terrorism, possession of weapons of mass destruction, and possession of explosive devices. The FBI confirmed the device was real but had failed to function properly. Due to the potential severity of the threat, the FBI took jurisdiction and executed a warrant at the suspects’ home with support from local police and bomb squads.
During the search, nearby homes were evacuated after the suspects claimed there were “hoax weapons of mass destruction” inside the residence. Authorities later confirmed those devices were real. Investigators also discovered firearms—despite both men being under protective orders—as well as narcotics, explosive materials, and electronic devices believed to hold further evidence.
FOX 13 News stated that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement and prioritizing the safety of its staff. The incident has further inflamed tensions following Kirk’s assassination, which has sparked nationwide debates about political violence and domestic extremism.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller addressed the situation on Fox News, calling for an aggressive crackdown on what he termed left-wing “domestic terrorists.” He blamed inflammatory rhetoric from Democrats and vowed that under a future Trump administration, federal law enforcement would pursue and dismantle extremist groups targeting conservatives.
