FBI Director Details Shocking Evidence in Charlie Kirk Assassination Case
FBI Director Kash Patel revealed on Fox & Friends that the suspected assassin of Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, had explicitly texted a friend about his plan to kill the conservative leader. “He claimed that he had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was going to do it because of his hatred for what Charlie stood for,” Patel said, calling the discovery “shocking.”
The FBI confirmed that DNA found on a towel wrapped around the weapon used in the killing, as well as on a screwdriver left on the roof of Utah Valley University, matched Robinson. The firearm itself is still being analyzed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
Patel explained that the FBI obtained the text message exchange and other crucial evidence—such as cell tower data and communications with Robinson’s live-in partner—through proper legal procedures, ensuring the evidence can be used in court. He emphasized that while the FBI does not determine motive, it is committed to uncovering and sharing the facts.
The messages and forensic evidence strongly support a politically motivated killing. Patel also disclosed that Robinson’s family told investigators he had been increasingly radicalized by left-wing ideology in recent years, a detail that adds to concerns about ideological extremism and domestic threats.
As the FBI continues its investigation, including interviews with individuals in an online Discord group connected to Robinson, questions remain—particularly why the person Robinson confided in did not alert authorities. Patel said that question is still under investigation but confirmed more details would emerge soon.
