Suspect in Charlie Kirk Assassination Left Note Outlining Motive, FBI Says
Before leaving his dorm room for the last time, Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in Charlie Kirk’s assassination, allegedly left a note detailing his intent to kill Kirk, according to investigators. FBI Director Kash Patel revealed on Fox News that Robinson wrote to his roommate and transgender partner, stating he had one chance to “take out” Kirk before escaping for good.
Patel confirmed that forensic teams are working to recover evidence from the now-destroyed note. He said, “The written note did exist, and we have evidence to show what was in that note. ‘I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.’ That note was written before the shooting.”
Robinson remains under “special watch” in Utah and has refused to cooperate with authorities. The note’s intended recipient is unclear, though Robinson’s roommate—described by relatives as hostile toward conservatives and Christians—has provided evidence implicating Robinson.
Governor Spencer Cox stated that Robinson was in the process of transitioning from male to female when the shooting occurred and that investigators believe Robinson embraced a “leftist ideology,” possibly reinforced by his roommate’s influence.
A female relative of the roommate told Fox News the roommate grew increasingly hostile toward conservatives and Christians after turning 18. She said, “He hates conservatives and Christians… He was not raised that way, but over the years, he has become really detached and radicalized.” She added that his behavior has worsened significantly in the last one to two years and that he is “always very angry.”
