FBI Probes Online Network Linked to Charlie Kirk’s Alleged Killer
FBI Director Kash Patel revealed Monday that investigators are probing a private online chat group connected to Tyler Robinson, the accused killer of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. More than 20 individuals linked to the group are expected to be questioned as part of the widening investigation.
Robinson, 28, was arrested after allegedly assassinating Kirk during a speech at Utah Valley University on September 10. According to law enforcement, he has confessed to the crime and remains in custody as formal charges are being prepared.
Patel stated that FBI agents seized numerous electronic devices from both Robinson’s home and that of his partner. Among the digital evidence is a disturbing text message in which Robinson allegedly stated he had an “opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk,” confirming premeditated intent.
Investigators are now analyzing a Discord chat group suspected of hosting radicalized content. While it’s unclear if members encouraged the attack, all participants will be questioned. Forensic teams are reviewing chat logs, user identities, and any financial or communication ties within the group to determine potential complicity.
Attorney General Bondi confirmed that state prosecutors in Utah are moving forward with a first-degree murder indictment, and federal charges may also follow. Under Utah law, Robinson could face the death penalty. Kirk’s assassination has sparked national outrage and renewed concern over online extremist networks, with vigils held across the country honoring the late conservative leader and father of two.
