Ohio Teamsters Endorse Vivek Ramaswamy for Governor in Political Shift
The Ohio Conference of Teamsters has officially endorsed Vivek Ramaswamy for governor, marking a notable shift from the union’s previous Democratic leanings. Representing over 50,000 workers, the Teamsters’ endorsement signals growing bipartisan support for the biotech entrepreneur and former 2024 presidential candidate.
Ramaswamy’s campaign, confirmed to Fox News Digital, has already secured multiple union endorsements, including the Ohio State Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, and regional building and construction trades councils. Interestingly, some of these unions are also backing Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown in his re-election bid, reflecting a broader willingness to support candidates across party lines.
“Our members want a leader who will fight for good-paying jobs,” said Patrick J. Darrow, president of the Ohio Conference of Teamsters. “Vivek has demonstrated a commitment to listening to labor and partnering with us to deliver real results.” The endorsement comes as labor unions become a central focus in the 2026 gubernatorial race.
Ramaswamy expressed gratitude for the endorsement, stating, “This isn’t about left vs. right, it’s about up vs. down.” He emphasized his goal to restore dignity to work, reward essential workers, and provide every Ohioan with a fair chance at the American Dream. His message continues to focus on economic opportunity and workforce empowerment.
Already endorsed by Donald Trump and the Ohio Republican Party, Ramaswamy is positioning himself as a unifying figure. Former Health Director Dr. Amy Acton currently leads the Democratic field, while former Lt. Gov. Jon Husted has exited the race after being appointed to the U.S. Senate. Ramaswamy, an Ohio native, has called his campaign an extension of his “America First 2.0” agenda, aligning closely with Trump-era policies and political strategy.
