Conservative commentator Candace Owens responded to speculation about her absence from Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, held Sunday. Despite her early and prominent involvement with Turning Point USA, Owens was notably missing from the list of speakers. Those who did appear included high-profile figures like President Donald Trump, Tucker Carlson, and Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk.
The UK’s Daily Mail had asked Owens whether she planned to attend or speak at the event, prompting a video response. In it, Owens stated, “I was not invited to speak alongside President Trump and JD Vance.” She emphasized that her friendship with Kirk never ended and suggested that her exclusion may have been influenced by donors, adding that the event appeared to be “controlled by the White House.”
Owens also addressed claims that her relationship with Kirk had soured. According to a New York Post report, a TPUSA advisory board member claimed Kirk distanced himself from Owens as her views became “too extreme.” Former Fox News host Eric Bolling echoed this sentiment on the “PBD Podcast,” asserting that Owens’ rhetoric went “too far down the rabbit holes” and that she had no current relationship with Erika Kirk.
In response, Owens accused Bolling of lying and insisted that such narratives were part of an effort to silence her. She further claimed that Kirk’s death was a “fed operation,” a theory she is personally investigating. This follows her earlier controversial suggestion that Israel was behind the killing—an accusation strongly denied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Owens concluded her video by alleging her exclusion was politically motivated. She claimed that “Trump is controlled by Zionists” and that her outspoken views on the topic made her unwelcome at the memorial. According to Owens, her presence would have conflicted with the interests of those she believes are steering the political narrative surrounding Kirk’s death.
