President Donald Trump took to social media on Saturday to declare, “The Invasion of our Country is OVER,” following his first full month in office.
During this period, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded just 8,326 illegal immigrant apprehensions—a historic low. Trump highlighted that these individuals were either quickly ejected or prosecuted. This announcement contrasts with the Biden administration’s peak in December 2023, where CBP recorded 301,981 encounters.
Trump’s statement emphasized that under his policies, the border was effectively closed to illegal immigrants, with significant criminal penalties for those attempting to enter illegally.
In fiscal year 2024, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported 271,484 removals, while the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recorded approximately 700,000 removals and returns—the highest in any fiscal year since 2010. Trump’s policies, including executive orders and military deployment, significantly impacted illegal immigration levels.
