FBI Director Kash Patel vowed during a White House roundtable on Wednesday that the bureau, along with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the Justice Department, and Homeland Security, will expose and dismantle the “domestic terrorist” networks funding left-wing violence across the country. “We are following the money. Money never lies,” Patel said, emphasizing the focus on tracking financial support behind these groups.
Patel praised Bessent’s efforts in mapping these networks through their long-standing financial crimes, adding that these groups previously hid with the aid of prior administrations. “We will go to every single city in this country,” Patel promised, highlighting the administration’s commitment to rooting out the violence.
Last month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at combating domestic terrorism and political violence. The order directs federal agencies to target left-wing extremist groups and their wealthy backers, whom Trump described as “anarchists” funded by affluent individuals. He hinted that he knows some of these financiers but offered no specifics.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller underscored the goal of dismantling left-wing terrorism, including Antifa. The executive order instructs the FBI’s National Joint Terrorism Task Force to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in political violence.
Following a deadly attack at a Dallas ICE facility, Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance blamed hostile left-wing rhetoric for the rise in violence. Trump specifically named billionaires George Soros and Reid Hoffman as major funders of groups like Antifa. The Justice Department is reportedly preparing criminal investigations into Soros’ Open Society Foundations, marking a significant escalation in the administration’s crackdown on left-wing activism.
