Early Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump sharply criticized four Republican senators who opposed his call for new tariffs on Canadian imports, labeling them “disloyal” for their votes.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump expressed frustration with GOP members prioritizing personal agendas over party unity. He specifically called out Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Rand Paul for not supporting his push to penalize Canada for fentanyl imports.
Trump argued that breaking ranks with such a critical issue projects weakness, aligning with Democrats and drug cartels. He also questioned whether these senators were suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (TDS), which he believes clouds their judgment. Trump urged the people of Kentucky, Alaska, and Maine to pressure their senators to embrace Republican values.
His statement coincided with “Liberation Day,” marking a major tariff overhaul, with details to be revealed later in the day.
