A Republican primary poll shows Vice President J.D. Vance surging, signaling a potential takeover of the post-Trump MAGA movement.
Among Republicans, 46% would support Vance if he runs to succeed Trump. Vance, who outperformed six other candidates in the 2022 Ohio Senate race, has leveraged his Appalachian background to his advantage.
In contrast, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, once predicted to challenge Trump, is languishing at a historic low of 7%, tied with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. DeSantis’ support has dropped from 10% in February, and he’s even trailing Vance in his home state.
Meanwhile, Democrats are speculating on Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s potential presidential bid. However, Vice President Kamala Harris holds a strong lead in Democratic polling, with 41% support, over other potential contenders.
