House Republicans are moving forward with two key bills championed by President Donald Trump after a standoff over remote voting for new parents in Congress was resolved.
This week, the House will vote on the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, introduced by Rep. Chip Roy, and the No Rogue Rulings Act (NORRA) by Rep. Darrell Issa. The SAVE Act would require proof of citizenship for voter registration, while NORRA seeks to limit district court judges from blocking Trump policies nationwide.
The votes were delayed by a procedural standoff, but an agreement was reached to allow parents to vote remotely in specific situations. Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed the compromise, which aims to modernize Congress and support families.
