First Major Country Blinks, Offers To Eliminate All Tariffs On US Goods

President Donald Trump announced that Vietnamese leader To Lam is willing to eliminate tariffs if a trade agreement with the U.S. is reached, following new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Vietnam.

This news positively affected stocks of companies manufacturing in Vietnam, such as Nike.

In addition, the U.S. economy showed strong growth in March, adding 228,000 jobs, surpassing economists’ expectations. The unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.2%, while job revisions for January and February lowered the total by 48,000.

The private sector led job growth, particularly in healthcare, retail, and transportation. Economists view this strong jobs report as giving the Federal Reserve space to maintain its current policy stance.
