Dem Lawmaker ‘Stable’ After Suffering ‘Emergency Medical Event’

Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ) is in “stable condition” after an “emergency medical event” in North Carolina, his office announced.

The 66-year-old congressman was admitted to UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh on Sunday, with the issue likely related to his gallbladder.

His office stated that he is in good spirits and thanked the medical staff at the hospital. Once medically cleared, Norcross will be transferred to Cooper University Health Care in New Jersey to continue his recovery.

Norcross has represented New Jersey’s 1st Congressional District since 2014. It is unclear how long his health issue will keep him from participating in congressional duties as the House prepares to vote on several key measures.
