President Donald Trump is set to meet with GOP House leaders on Tuesday before the chamber votes on the Senate version of his budget resolution.
The National Republican Congressional Committee will also hold a fundraiser with Trump as the guest of honor.
Many House Republicans oppose the Senate’s budget proposal, and leaders hope Trump can persuade them to support it. House Speaker Mike Johnson plans to vote on the resolution as early as Wednesday.
The measure includes $175 billion for border security and expands Trump’s 2017 tax cuts. Some Republicans, like Chip Roy and Andy Ogles, argue it doesn’t cut spending enough.
Trump’s approval rating has surged, despite criticism from Democrats and Republicans over his trade changes.
