Supreme Court Sides With Trump Admin Over DOGE Firings

In a significant victory for President Donald Trump, the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked a lower court order that would have forced his administration to rehire over 16,000 federal employees from six agencies.

The decision cleared the way for Trump to proceed with his plan to reduce the federal workforce.

This ruling halted a March 13 injunction by U.S. District Judge William Alsup, who had ordered the reinstatement of probationary employees at the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Energy, Interior, and Treasury.

The Supreme Court stated that the organizations suing lacked legal standing. Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented, but the majority focused on the standing issue, leaving broader claims unresolved.
