Trump Supreme Court Pick Under Fire After Ruling Against Him In ‘Alien Enemies Act’ Case

One of President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court picks, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, turned against him on Monday, joining liberal justices in an effort to limit his authority to deport illegal immigrants suspected of ties to violent South American gangs.

MAGA conservatives are furious, accusing Barrett of trying to restrict Trump’s power under the wartime Alien Enemies Act.

Barrett joined three liberal justices in dissent, with Justice Sonia Sotomayor stating the administration’s actions posed an extraordinary threat to the rule of law. The majority reversed a lower court’s decision temporarily halting deportations to mega-prisons in El Salvador, but with additional restrictions, including due process for every deportee and the possibility for future legal challenges.
