Donald Trump reportedly wants a “massive military parade” for his upcoming 79th birthday on June 14, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.
The parade would celebrate both Trump and Americans in uniform. Local officials were briefed to expect a four-mile procession, but the White House has since denied these claims, stating, “No military parade has been scheduled.”
Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser expressed concerns over the proposed parade, particularly regarding the potential use of military tanks on city streets. Bowser emphasized that if tanks were involved, the government would need to provide funding to repair any resulting damage.
The extravagant event, featuring military force, may not sit well with the public, given recent federal job cuts.
